What are ear seeds?

A lot of the time, we forget about the ear. We never think of our ears as a powerful source of pain relief that holds countless acupoints. In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), these pressure points in the ears are a form of auriculotherapy– an important treatment modality to help target specific health concerns. The ear can be seen as a microsystem that can stimulate balanced Qi flow throughout the body and its organs.

Ear seeds are adhesive Vaccaria seeds to help perform auriculotherapy on the ear. Each specific point that the seeds are applied to correlates with whichever ailment you’re feeling.

Referring to the image above, each point can target a specific problem whether it be neck pain, digestion issues, etc.

How to use ear seeds?

  1. Consult with your acupuncturist first- It is important to have your practitioner show you the exact points so that you are safely using them

  2. Clean ears

  3. Identify the exact acupoint

  4. Gently massage a few times a day- Each ear seed can be used for 3-5 days at a time

  5. Removal- Be sure to face your ear to the ground as you remove it with your nails or tweezers so the seeds do not fall into your ear.

  6. Clean ears
